Default unidentified eagle (pilot's) badge

I believe I posted this old flying badge some time ago but it has still remained a mystery.
I have no inkling as to whether it is British in origin, or German, Italian, or whatever.
It is a relatively large eagle, measuring 3 1/2" (9cm) in length and had a brooch attachment, now broken.
It has overall age patina and is a local find, possibly coming from a ground or damp environment.

Appreciate assistance leading to a positive i.d.

Thanks for your assistance. May I ask how you reached this conclusion? Have you seen similar?

I have seen a few of these on the forum and in shops. I have never seen a conclusive ID.

Yes,I nearly bought one once ....it is similar to a Latvian military air despatchers badge , I had a discussion regarding it with some other aviation collectors ...I certainly believe it not to be military and they turn up regulerly on eBay with the usual comments ....
All the best
