Air transport auxiliary half brevet
A big thankyou to Norfolk Regiment man for passing this one on to me
Flight engineers half brevet , grey on black, It is the first one Iv'e handled , I know there are lots of copies of the pilots wings out there, Smashing badge, Kevin |

Nice wing, made specifically in grey rayon for Flight Engineers and Senior Flight Engineers. The former (effectively Sergeants) wore three black stripes on the sleeve outlined in gold, the latter (effectively Warrant Officers) wore the ATA cap badge in matching grey rayon on each upper sleeve. I've a pair of these rank badges. Most people I think see them as repro cap badges as they are made in rayon rather than woven in silk.
Officer Flight Engineers wore the half wing in gold, either bullion or silk. |

That is one rare wing. Very nicely done. Thanks for sharing your pic. I don't think we will see another any time soon.

I think this is a good one. Patina, style, bullion and backing all look pretty good. Style matches some Ive had/have.

Thanks it come from a good source but I have nothing to compare it too and local "experts" have all dismissed it as its not in any books
