Default Military Medal -Chindit - Son seeking Info

Hi can anyone Help?

Met a Mr George Luke an Archaeologist in Shrewsbury but turns out he is was trying to gather information on a relative - but comes unstuck in regards not obtaining any info on him he has seen photos of him in an old newspaper recieving a Military Medal so here is the info he has given me as I said there is always someone on the Forum here who comes up with the impossible! And you do!! Amazing how scant the information someone always comes up trumps!

Anyway :- His Grandfather was Duncan Luke "BurmaJoe", Argll and Sutherland Highlanders, (apparantly he had Parachute experience) served in Burma with the Chindits, (he mentioned he was dropped onto a Japanese Airbase being constructed in the jungle and this is where he earned the Military Medal, he saved his officer by comming to his aid?)

Right that is all I have on what he told me other than he was a great story teller? But he had seen the photo of him getting his Medal in the local paper of the time!

Here is the blokes details which if anyone has details they can be forwarded to:-

George Luke --- seorasbheag@hotmail.co.uk his Mobile is :-07739984874

Trust I am not out of order and can't honestly say its fact or not but err on the side of if this where me! But I have no knowledge of tracing this stuff as have never done it wherby a lot of people on the Forum have! I must learn!!!! All the best hope this works ?

Billy,

Might be worth him contacting this society:

http://www.britishbadgeforum.com/for...indits+society

Well done at Shrewsbury, the last time I went ( and it is not that far from Crewe ) There was one militaria shop in the old Hospital- now a shopping Mall but the owner was not there so impossible to negotiate on prices and the only other militaria I could find was downstairs in an Antique Center and 90% of the stuff was repro.

Hi Billy

Might be worth him contacting the Argyll & Sutherland Highlanders Museum, if he hasn't already, they should know something about an MM winner.

All the best
