Default Yeomanry Button To Share

Hi Gents,

I just had this lovely Victorian Shropshire Yeomanry button arrive. I'm sure it is nothing too spectacular to those veteran button collectors, or too rare but most of these I see are the later Kings Crown version, so seeing this was QVC I grabbed it, as I have not seen too many.

I'm not a big Yeomanry collector by any means but this fits nicely with my Shropshire interest. Lovely condition too...

Diameter is a little over 22mm with a nice clear makers mark.

A lovely looking button and in really super nice condition, so thought I would share it.

Cheers, Roy.

Hi Roy

It was worn c. 1872 - 1901, despite the smaller size.

Quite a few Yeomanry buttons are smaller than their infantry counterparts, depending on the uniform they wore.

Hi David,

Thanks for that mate. Didn't realize that about the size, good to know.

Cheers, Roy.

Hello Roy and all

This is using an old thread to share something with you - though I think you may have seen it already - just looking at some of the stunning items in the moving picture show

http://www.shropshireregimentalmuseum.co.uk/

We will be visiting Shrewsbury but alas the museum is shut for the Winter until 15 February so may have to return. I think we have liased before when you mentioned a bomb going off in Shrewsbury - please excuse me if I am mistaken. It was in connection with the fact I had heard of a fire at the museum. I am told there was a fire several years ago - but I am unsure. Whatever happened they appear to have a nice museum to visit.

I thought worth sharing with Members

For those with good appetites it looks like The Hole In The Wall is worth ago - it has been recommended but not been there yet, At about £15 for a 20oz Steak or something like £10 for a whole chicken it has to be worth a go.

They will be signing me up for the Shrewsbury Tourist Board so I will stop wittering on ...

Always good to hear from members if they have good days out to share

Mike

Hi Mike,

Thanks for sharing mate. Gosh 'The Hole In The Wall' now that brings back memories of a miss-spent youth. I recall back in the day it was so packed on a weekend night you had to fight to get to the bar.

I can't tell you have many times I have been in the museum, most saturday mornings when I went into town at one point. All seems a long way away these days from sunny Arizona.

Enjoy your trip to Shrewsbury my friend, a lovely town indeed. My (American) wife keeps reminding me I have promised to take her for a visit.

Cheers, Roy.
