Indian Long Range Squadron (ILRS) badge
Hello Gents,
I am being offered one of these badges and have a thread going on the British Military Insignia Forum under the Airborne, Elite, and Special Forces section regarding it. Just in case anyone here on the Indian Badges forum might be able to add their feedback for me, I would greatly appreciate it. The comments seem to be 50/50 at this point. Here is the link to that thread: http://www.britishbadgeforum.com/for...ad.php?t=51300 Cheers John |

It does sound as if there is some serious doubt about what I asume will be an expensive item. Design variations and an apparent lack of any authenticated originals are both concerns, as is the view that the same lugs are on several [rare?] badges.
The construction is not unusual, in terms of casting quality, for Indian/Middle Eastern 'bazar made' items but I don't see anything in that thread to convince me that it is real excpet the comments by one of the posters, for which I don't see any supporting evidence. If it were me, I'd keep my wallet in my pocket. My tuppence worth. Peter |

I wouldn't buy it either, especially if it's a lot of money.

I think Peter's comments above are very sensible.
I have followed a few threads on LRDG badges and this Indian one seems to have run the same way with people with vast experierence on these badges disagreeing on authenticity or showing caution, if I were you I would wait for one to come along with cast iron provenance. I realise that may take some time for one to come on the market but at least you will be sure of what you have. Paul |
