While we have the experts here, I'll throw mine into the ring, so to speak. The jewels look promising but the letters? Just not sure...
thoughts? Cheers, Tim |

Same as the others in post #1 I’m afraid mate. Big diamond to the right of centre, small offset one left, same block font on the Welsh scroll.

Unfortunately these have been around for a number of years and 'authenticated' by some well known dealers which has seen them sell for £40-£50 + as genuine when you could buy them on ebay for £5-6 a decade ago.

OK, thanks Luke, I see it now. Appreciate the look.
I agree Alan, I saw a dealer sold an East Y cyclist a week or two back - I bought the exact badge off them about year or so ago and returned it, as it turned out to be a blackened collar with a slider. Back for sale as a cyclist and sold. Appreciate the great information in this thread, and to the people who have freely given their time and knowledge cheers, Tim |

Kevin.
Just spoke to the Oldman and seems as if I got things mixed up (three different conversation over the years). The helmet plate, cross belt plate, pouch badge are circa 1910. The cap badge, collars, s/t and medal came as one lot from an ex binman on the council. When he spoke to Morrey Salmon about the 7th (his uniform is/was in the museum) that where the mention of cap badge re blackening (also confirmed by the OCA). Paul the photo is just a generic image not related to the medal just have it as looking for the rifle brigade boss badge (unique shape so point of reference) that's on that astrokhan hat to complete the set. Jonathan,
Do you have anything to confirm they were only issued in one piece. After all the only other one piece construction badges worn by the regiment both date from the 1st World War i.e. the EI all brass “S” spelling & the “C” spelling used by the 16th Batt’n. Even the all white metal & volunteer badges pre & post 1908 are usually two piece construction. Hwyl, Kevin |

Hello David. Your badge looks similar to one I have- post 26 in this thread. https://www.britishbadgeforum.com/fo...yclists&page=2
Mine seems to lack a line under the 'o' in Co, but the 'o' is high. Regards, Paul. |

I have copied mine from an old thread to the start for comparison. I would like to think that it is one of the regimentally blackened badges.
