Default 164th HAA regiment RA badge ww2 help!

I cannot find what formation badge they wore? Was it the generic orange and bow and arrow or was there a specific formation patch. Any help or pics greatly appreciated. My dad served in the 164th. He has been dead for some time. Need help for my frame.
Thanks!!

Thank you very much. The million dollar question. How do I look at them? I don't live in the UK.

According to Frederick it was raised in Kent in July 1942 and three of its batteries were disbanded at Kirkwall, Orkney, in March 1945, and RHQ in the following month, with one battery lasting there until October 1945.

So without knowing anything of UK geography it might have worn the badge of Orkney and Shetland Island Defences which was a red anchor on blue square or upright rectangle if I remember correctly. I couldn't find it in Cole or Boulanger but might have missed it.

Sorry I did not notice the Canada bit.

You can request copies from the NA., but I do not know what they cost.

The only record I have for 164 is a TA regiment formed in 1942 and disbanded in 1945.

Thank you. Interesting enough among my fathers badges was a red anchor on navy blue background! The books you quoted, what are their names?

Ok thank you! I will look into the NA thing. RA regiments are a bit of mystery, difficult to find out info.

Default Orkney and Shetland Defences

Here is an example of the Orkney and Shetland Defences formation badge.

From Formation Badges of WW2 by Howard Cole:

"The military garrison of the Orkneys and Shetlands, known as 'OSDEF', was composed mainly of Anti-Aircraft and Coast Defence Gunners and Infantry and adopted as its badge the naval fouled anchor in red on a dark blue background denoting the close association with the naval base at Scapa Flow."

He would also have worn on Battle Dress the R.A. black on khaki slip-on shoulder titles replaced from circa 1943 by the ROYAL ARTILLERY red on blue printed shoulder titles.
