bakelite badge
Good afternoon,
I have just received this badge, in bakelite I think. Could you help me to identify it (RA, RE), confirm the material and date it ? Thank you |

2è guerre mondiale, usually used on FSC and beret by RA, it has 7 flames.Also,not made of bakelite but cellulose acetate.

Anjou. Not Bakalite, which is a hard brittle material (think of old 1950's radios).
Badges were made of a thermos setting plastic, but the correct definition escapes me. Someone will know. |

Contracts dates 10th February 1942 - 2nd November 1945.
666.232 pairs made, 491,232 pairs by that manufacturer. (I wonder where the other 1332463 of those badges are?) |

During the 2nd WW,from 10.02.42 to 02.11.45, 666,232 pairs were made of the grenade collar badges by Fraser & Glass 175,000 and Alfred Stanley & Sons Ltd.491,232. Jo

I got the info from Mr Cotton's article but didn't credit him as I can't remember what his first name is (Mark?), the magazine it was published in (Militaria Mag?) or when (1980's?)
