From the regimental history; Brevet Colonel William Christian Anderson 1/1st Gurkhas
pg.137 'The Mohmand Campaign'; Lt. WC Anderson put the tribesman to flight pg.145 'The Warran Valley'; Lt. WC Anderson was detached to hold the Arhanga Pass pg.149 'The Bazar Valley-The Alachi Pass', Lt. Anderson mentioned for having done good service WW1; Lt. Col. WC Anderson France A. pg. 179 joined the battalion at Marseilles with 246 men and four Gurkha Officers 04/01/1915 B. pg.181 takes temporary command of the Sirhind Brigade C. pg.182 his staff officer is killed by a sniper D. pg.186 he is on of two regular BO officers left E. pg.188 was lucky when a shell burst into the next room, whilst he was studying a map F. pg.190. At the battle of Loos 25/09/1915 Lt. Col. Anderson was in command of the 1st Gurkha and the 4th Liverpool in the advance by the Sirhind Brigade G. pg.192 in a dispatch on 30/11/1915 "gallant and distinguished services in the field", and in 1916 he was awarded the CMG Mesoptamia H. pg.197 he records his impression of the advance I. pg.200 'Dujaila Redoubt' 09/03/1916, he is the only officer left from the mornings action. J. pg.207 Col. Anderson falls ill on June 16th and rejoins on August the 8th. General Campbell falls ill on 25th October and Col. Anderson takes temporary command of the 9th Brigade in the Generals absence K. pg.208 Anderson was awarded Brevet Colonel L. pg.210 in December 1916 at Kut the Brigade Commander was wounded in the advance and Col. Anderson took over. M. pg 217 Col Anderson had to explain to General Marshall how they had acquired so many Geese, with some misgivings Col. Anderson explained their Lewis Gun team had shot them, to Col. Anderson's relief, the General said "it was excellent practice for the men." N. pg.218 Col. Anderson received orders to march to Baghdad, some 100 miles O. pg.222 Battle of Jabal Hamrin; Col. Anderson was badly hit through the chest P. pg.226 Colonel Anderson did not complete his tenure of command until 19/02/1919. After being declared fit for light duties he took over the Depot at Dharmsala 17/11/1917. On the 11/03/1918 Col. Anderson took over command of the 1st Infantry Brigade at Quetta 11/03/1918.
