Default RE Boer War Plume/Rosette?

Hi Gents,

The attached photo doesn't show any insignia, nor answer any questions. However I have decided to share it here on the off change it may be of interest to Royal Engineers collectors.

I purchased this splendid Boer War period cabinet card for the image of the Lee-Metford rifle, so very pleased with it in that regard. However I noted on zooming in that the side of the slouch hat appears (?) to show a plume or rosette. Fortunately the reverse has details of this chap and his unit, so thought these scant details just may be of interest to some members.

Cheerio,

Roy
