Then I replace the uploaded picture.

Hi again, sorry it has been a while since ive been able to respond.
Thanks very much for the info shared, i am very much appreciative of the expertise and knowledge shared.
I am sorry if i caused any bad feeling, it really was not my intention.
The cap and badge are things i really know little about and thought it would be ok to request help from this forum... thinking it open to newbies joining and posting pictures etc... just thought it to be the norm
Guess i was wrong... sorry to have ruffled feathers.
All the same thanks again to all those that were kind enough to share their knowledge. Best regards to all.. Scott

You could have avoided upsetting people by stating clearly in your first post that it was your intention to sell the item.

Members use that statement to decide how much time they are going to spend answering your question.
Independent of your intentions, you may still get a proper answer.

If you plan on using the Forum membership to identify, date, or collect information to enhance the desirability of an item that you intend to sell, then please say so in your first post on the subject.

Cut people a break, why not on their introduction ask if they are wanting information to sell on and then people can reply if they feel disposed too.
There is another thread early this evening from a new member asking for information and someone has already asked for a pm if it is for sale, who is wrong there?

The problem is if you purchase the item because the new poster wishes to gain information to sell it on aren't you part of the problem shown here

I think you need to take a step back and think about this instead of accusing me of being a problem.

The poster wanted an ID of a badge in his family possession, no mention of selling or keeping (the 2 usual options).

I identified his badge thus fulfilling his request for information.

At the same time, I registered my interest in being given the opportunity to buy it IF he did choose to sell in the future.

What is wrong with that - nothing.

As with this post Simon, how are you to know if he wished to sell it or not, it may not even be from his Family box, as I said earlier a request on a first poster should ascertain if the item is intended for sale before information is freely given. I doubt anyone reads the rules on registration.
Any offer and subsequent sale just hides the fact that a forum rule has been broken. Or am I wrong.

So he's a liar and I'm a problem?

Unlike you I dont mind giving information to new posters and will believe him until he is proved to be wrong.

Its your narrow minded busybody attitude that puts of new members.

Thats all I have to say on the matter. I am giving up and going to bed.

regards

No,
I think it is the it all sarky comments and dispreciation of rules and lack of clarity that puts a lot of first posters off, plus the comeback that they recieved as in this thread which is why I said cut them a break,
I have never been called a busybody before which has cheered me up no end!
