Default Is this Common?

Hello,

I have a nice Canadian made Tam'O'Shanter with a Black Watch hat Badge.

Is this common for a Scottish Regiment to be using a Canadian made hat or has someone just stuck it on?

Way outside my collecting field so I appreciate any help.

Paul

Default Canadian Tam

That is a nice Canadian wartime tam, sadly someone has stuck a badge on it.

British soldiers wore Canadian uniform items whenever they could.

My father was in an armoured division that moved down to Sussex to take over a camp from the Canadians in August 1942.

The Canadians, who had been there for some time, were only keeping the basic stuff that they had been issued with. All the extra things they had "wangled" they just left behind, or gave away to the British troops.

I remember my father telling me he got a lot of Canadian underwear, that I hope was new. Also shirts and a bike.

The Canadians were going to Dieppe and the British armoured division had moved down to Sussex to guard the coast.

Default Canadian Tam

Nostalgic stories of the multinational usage of clothing aside, sticking badges to caps is a common sales tactic - and as I stated before, sadly yours suffers from that fate.

Thanks for the replies Gents.

I'll keep the badge in place for now until I decide what to do with it.

I think a different BW badge was in use in WWII. Regards, Paul.

Not sure of exact dates but 'I think' 1902-1938. I just know it as correct for 1914-1918. Regards, Paul.

I thought that The Black Watch usually wore the red hackle on the khaki tam/balmoral.
