I found this among my dads things yesterday, appears to be nickel plated as there's brass showing through on the bottom left corner.

I'm fairly sure that at least one of my 1916 badges is white metal as it looks as if it has been "tested" on the edge with a file and it is....not brass. There seem to be far fewer plated 1916 badges than brass examples so they must have had at least some status/ function. Whether we'll ever know what it is/ was is very much open to question. |
