Default Not the unicorn - more a white rhino

My latest find. I have only ever seen pictures of one in Chris' book and a couple on the forum. The LF wore beret badges in cloth in the 50s & 60s so this one must have been quite a rarity.

I am now going to have to move all my infantry badges.

The AA badge was not worn by the TA element (5th Bn LF) after 1960 as the image shown has them wearing the Fusilier Brigade badge although they wear the LF Hackle which was worn until 23/04/68,I have not at this time found a dated Cadet image from either a Bury or Rochdale Detachment.
Hope it helps
Paul

Hi Alan,

Nice find - first I've seen maker marked.

Hiya Alan,

I think I would have left it alone and told someone else to go for it, it reminds me of that famous line in JAWS !!!

"We're gonna have to get a bigger boat" !!!
(giggle, chuckle, chorkle)

Great badge Alan, well done

Ken (The Fatboy)

To record some detail to close the thread, whilst the pre 58 beret badge was cloth and the TA used the Fusiliers' Bde badge, the TA regtl band continued to wear LF badges into the 60s. It is my opinion the very low number of LF badges about that can be found is either due to a very low production run (low demand from the band) or for sealed pattern cards in anticipation of a future large order that never occurred.

I would not normally link to live auctions but in this case I think the cat is out of the bag:

£285 and 4 hours to go.

Makes my recent purchases at Bosleys seem like absolute bargains but I suppose it is a good job we don't all have the same interests.
