There is a bi-metal officers badge on display in the Tank Museum at Bovington. There are matching collars as well. I am not sure what order of dress but I think its likely that it was ceremonial.

Hi, there are dress regulations for, I think, 1925 which call for a bi-metal officers cap badge, but it stipulates collar badge size, from memory it actually says "shilling size". The bi-metallic full size badge does turn up in collections but I think it is a fantasy badge. It is usually just lost wax gilded, again I think it was the same guy who in the 70's made all the Tank Corps variants. I would be more than pleased to be proved wrong but the quality and lack of any evidence tends to mitigate against it, best wishes Mike

This thread shows another officers badge
http://www.britishbadgeforum.com/for...k+corps&page=1 I have yet to see a genuine Silver and Gilt example (that's not to say they don't exist), however I would guard against assuming that the fact that a museum has one on display is confirmation of their existence! Hello Simon,
Do you think there are no original Tank Corps badges with this type of Gaunt oval cartouche? Regards Frank |

So original badges with that oval cartouche are actually extant then?

See post 30, it's an OSD cap badge but has a post fitted for use on a picture frame rather than blades, I also have 3 OSD collars to match.

Okay, so these were produced for wear by officers of the Tank Corps and are not simply something that appeared in the early 1970's?
