Default 8th Bn Maker "R. Lewis"

All:
Recently got an 8th Bn cap badge in what started life as blackened sterling with the maker mark "R Lewis Winnipeg". This is the first CEF badge in my collection to that maker.

Don, just a thought. That could be a Winnipeg Rifles cap badge, 1922-37 era.

Bill:
That could be right. Would the Lewis maker mark fit in better in that era?

Bill:
Thank you for that. Mazeas draws the 1923 version of the cap a little different, but that my just be artistic license. I think that later there was a similar cap that actually said "Winnipeg Rifles" on it. The one that I am thinking of may have been closer to WWII.

The cup and Trident are unique. The cup has a wide top that is flat and the Trident is voided between the "forks" and only the center "fork" has a barb. The problem is, the 8th in the book has several of these. So ???? CEF or post 1919?
