Swagger stick crest ID pls

Hi.

I have recently been given this swagger stick. Unfortunately I dont know who in the family it belonged to, yet... Could someone tell me a little about the crest please, it would help me on my way to identify who it belonged to.

The rowel or spur might make it something to do with the Cameronians.
It would be better if you could try and take (say) a number of pictures of the complete badge/insignia.

I would agree with David.

The mullet and bugle are indicative of the Cameronians ( Scottish Rifles ) and with a QVC, a nice old stick ! unless of course, someone knows differently ?

I picked up a swagger cane in the last month or so and there is no doubt if is of some age but rather like the one in this thread it does not show the badge exactly as you might expect to see it.

I am pretty sure the one in the thread is Cameronians but not the usual representation of their badge.

Quite a few Kings Liverpool swagger canes display the design of a collar badge and not the cap badge.

Look forward to others thoughts.

The Cameronians' mullet (the star) is matched by the bugle of a Rifles regt which matches their Scottish Rifles title.

If I was a betting man I would have to agree with the rest of the group. I believe I can recall a similar stick in the Hamilton Museum (Scottland) many years back. Why I recall it was I hadn't heard of the regiment and had little exposure to swaggar sticks and was impressed with both the unit and the detail on it.

Trying to chase down the mullet on the 26th Foot. It only appears on a SBP up to around 1855. So maybe your stick is from around this era. To me, its just odd that the '26' doesn't appear. A 'Scots guru' would have to answer this one.

My only excuse for screwing up my 'prose' earlier (thanks dave) is that I got offered 2 jobs today..... quite exciting in a way - for me, that would be like finding an officers 4RIDG 1843 helmet in the bottom of a T chest. Now where is it...

Attached is a picture of the swagger cane I recently acquired, although the unit is not readily identifyable it seems to have a conection with a Lancashire Rifle unit ( Liverpool Rifles ?. Lancashire Rifle Volunteers ?) It certainly came from the North West.

The second swagger cane is Kings Liverpool one and the badge on it is a representation of the Kings collar rather than their cap badge.

This emphasises the point I was trying to make in my earlier post that some swagger canes do not show the badge you might expect to see.

I am firmly of the opinion that the cane the subject of this thread is a Cameronian one. I would be interested if anyone can suggest any other possible unit the cane might be for.

I phoned the Cameronians Museum and described the crest and they have confirmed that it is one of theirs. They asked me to send the pictures in and they will reply with any details about dates etc. and explain about the crown.
