I see what you mean Andy. The pitting on the scroll which was mentioned in one of the opening posts is now apparent.
Are there any mould lines on the badge? What’s the length and width?
A badge made from a cast of an original will be slightly smaller or larger. Perhaps someone with an original can contribute their measurements...
On balance I too think it’s good. I strongly suspect it’s had a hard life and suffered pitting and corrosion that someone has then cleaned off (probably with silver dip) revealing the damage to the surface of the silver which makes the finish appear as it does.
