These were replacement British manufactured felt hats ,and sometimes worn with the plain puggaree or with a standard New Zealand Mounted rifles puggaree over the top of the plain one .


A wonder how many of these have been misidentified as A.I.F

This is a British made Slouch hat ( dated 1918 and marker marked) worn by an Australian chap from the AFC have photo of him wearing hat , notice it is the same type of hat you show Iain so these were made for both NZ and Aust soldiers .
