Been doing some research and the Dublin Metropolitan Police were not founded until 1836 four years after Edward Jones stopped making buttons , it could the " Dublin Horse Police " who were active in the 1820's and wore a very military style uniform , they were mainly ex soldiers . Anybody seen examples of buttons from this force
