According to one internet source "In 1952 Goldsmiths & Silversmiths Co Ltd was amalgamated with Garrard & Co Ltd".
According to another source "In 1889 they acquired Mappin Brothers, followed by the acquisition in 1893 with the Goldsmiths Alliance (A B Savory & Sons), further acquiring Garrard & Co in 1952".
Whether they amalgamated with or acquired Garrard & Co, both companies may have carried on trading under their separate names for a number of years.
