Just a thought.
The Australian Defence Liaison Group wore shoulder patches with a Roo on them in Singapore around the 1960-70 era.
The attached shoulder patch would have been right shoulder. I assume left and right shoulders had opposing patches so it is possible the left shoulder would go very close to being your plaque.
