I agree, a very nice button and unusual having the backmark on the rim.
I can't quite make out the full details on the back but the '101 South Bridge Street Edinburgh' seems clear enough. Is the name across the top 'Craig' or 'Haig & Co'? If the latter, any connection with the Haig Whisky company?
Another long shot but could the 'E' on the button be for 'Edinburgh'? The button looks more like a livery/company button than police or military.
