Tim,

With reference to this:- "1895-1898 2nd Volunteer Battalion East Riding of Yorkshire Royal Garrison Artillery", it is not correctly described.

If he was in the local volunteer artillery unit, it was in 1895 to 1898 known as this:-

2nd East Riding of Yorkshire Volunteer Artillery (Western Division, Royal Artillery), based at Scarborough. There was also a 1st at Hull, depending on which he was in.
