Worn in Malta during 1943, the Regiment became 17th Medium Regt RA., in 1944 and disbanded in 1946. Not confirmed if the badge continued to be worn after conversion to Medium.
The badges are quoted as being blue, but they are a very dark blue like the Number 1 Dress.

The number 5 was worn by 33rd Field Regt RA., from September 1939 to August 1945.

Have you a positive ID on the variant bearing the numeral
1? Logically it would have been HQ RA 3 Inf Div in the BEF period. Mike
