Is there a way to distinguish a bit boss from a martingale? I suspect - and looking for correction if I'm wrong - that the fixings on the back would be the main distinguishing feature.
Posts for but bosses, pins or loops for martingales (to fix to the leather).
If that is correct, would it be right to say that the badge itself was common/ multipurpose, with the fixings applied later in manufacture?
