Default Dublin made (old?) button

Hi all,

I picked up this old looking button and I would like to learn more about it.

Like I understand it is manufactured by Dublin button maker "Jones, E. Cork Hill. Opposite 2, The Castle. Dublin". In the front there is a crown and under that letter "D". My main question is who worn these buttons??
Also from what period it can be? Should I clean it some how, etc.

I am not button collector - I am looking only Royal Dublin Fusiliers stuff, so I actually purchased it for a future trade (if in this button there is any collecting interest to someone), so any approx idea of its value or rarity in current condition (pretty bad) would be nice as well.

Thanks guys in advance,

Timo

I am always looking early (pre 1939) British ribbon bars with foreign awards; interesting devices or just different construction solutions. Also I am seeking Royal Dublin Fusiliers items. I can help in small scale to research RDF soldiers (MICs, medal rolls, additional information, etc).
