Hello Jim, yes it the badge I was referring to in your topic. Had I recalled the topic, I would have added my badge and comments there, instead of starting a new topic. Maybe Bill A can merge the two topics?

Working off the information I have been given here by Bill and Paul, I checked the linage of the QOR and found that the Regiment officially became 2nd Battalion Queen's Own Rifles of Canada in 1882. This may help narrow the date down a bit more.

I do not have the references Bill and Paul are referring to, I only have Mazeas book for 1920-1950 badges.

Bill you said the 1870 pattern is without the words "OF CANADA" which would make sense as there name at that time was officially 2nd Bn Queen's Own Rifles of Toronto (as of 1863).

This is a great discussion that has really narrowed down the date of this badge. If possible, lets keep this going until its narrowed further.
