I would agree - there is scope for variation given that indeed the adaptation is probably unofficial. Blades to the reverse is - in my limited and out of date experience - quite unusual for Grenadier Guards. I can only ever remember seeing a couple of standard Bze OSD bladed examples with plain balls (never seen an OSD Bze with cypher/monogram). Specialist Guards collectors will be better informed than I am these days - my interest turned to Commando etc about 30 years ago although I still like to add unusual items to the rest of my collection.
Always interested in learning more.
A brief internet search has failed to provide me with any more leads on Guards Hospital - hoping someone else has better luck.
