I have just found I have two examples - sorry for no images - the cross is applied on both, rather than impressed each of mine has two distinct blades at reverse of lower flames - one east and one west.

Reference:
Bosleys 20 January 2010, lot 245. Gilding metal in appearance.
Bosleys 25 January 2012, lot 475. Possibly coated as OSD - BUT Gilding metal reverse

No of flame tips: 17 on each (as usual with each representing a letter of 'FIRST OF FOOT GUARDS' - as Grenadier Guards).

Always great to have a talking point such as this and I appreciate opinions will be divided. Personally I have some doubts as laid out my earlier post (14), although I was surprised to find my badges have two blades each (Mine look to be better quality than the example in this thread but who knows?)
Regards
Mike
