I had forgotten RM: good one!
This despite a solemn agreement c. 1880 for the Army and RM to adopt commonality of uniforms and badges. This is recorded in the RACD leders at Kew.
Six-point stars ....... a grey area in a grey subject!
I have never seen an official Army reference to them. A few clues picked up over the years suggest two Army associations: RA, and Volunteer.
