3dg, I've often wondered about the MMG badges as well. The Motor Machine Gun Service was formed in November 1914 and on the formation of the Machine Gun Corps in October 1915 the MMGS was absorbed into the MGC becoming MGC (Motors). I have heard the MMG badges were worn only up until the MGC was formed but I can't recall ever having seen any images of them actually being worn by members of the MMGS. If they had been worn after the MGC was formed there would surely be more photographic evidence.
