Edwardian officers dirk belt plate 1902-10.
A very fine example not maker marked but looks to be a Kirkwood stlye of badge. Seeeded rectangular plate with raised burnished edges; mounted on the plate a faceted silver Star of the Order of the Thistle; mounted on the Star a gilt thistle wreath, within the wreath a crowned oval bearing the motto of the Order (Lacesset). To the centre, St. Andrew and the cross in silver, below the wreath a gilt Sphinx. The crown flanked by silver scrolls inscribed "The Royal Highlanders". The Sphinx flanked by silver scrolls inscribed "Black Watch". Nice details of the figure of St. Andrew.
