Hi again,
I think i have answered my own original question concerning the 216 silver badge with the banner 'I ALSO SERVE'.
Reading the book 'The Bantams' by Sidney Allinson, a chapter which covers the the 143rd and 216th canadian battalions.
I will quote the paragraph concerning this unique badge.
'Lt Colonel Burton then came up with yet another recruiting gimmick. He had manufactured a miniature silver brooch engraved with a bantam rooster and the words , "I also serve". He organized a reception party and invited all wives and mothers of each man in the 216th. to meet the officers and be presented with a brooch. it was a good morale booster for the unit,"

No doubt deeply cherished by mothers and wives and proudly worn.
So probably a unique brooch in cef collecting.
a little history behind some of the badges in collection makes them so much more interesting
all the best Dan
