That is indeed what the badge says. But use Google and search for "brigade of the guards" and you will find hundreds of pointers to official and unofficial websites (including Wikipedia) that call it like that. And that includes badge pictures with a scroll having the "THE" (although they are drawings, no photos).
I think I go for the majority here. Your mileage may differ of course.
