I assume a factory mistake as it was not worn as a cap badge.

It was small OTC but was in existence up to WW2...

It was small OTC but was in existence up to WW2 and was wearing the PoW plume version then. One of the harder ones to find and both versions remain on my wants list.

The long slider is typical of one for a Brodrick cap 1903-5. Unlike the VB I don't believe the militia had the same enthusiasm for the felt slouch hats post 1902.

The cap badge in reverse...

This is circa WW1 and the badge is clearly scrolless and polished.
