It also forms a part of the cap badge in miniature but you have not indicated its size. Probably a collar badge for the Chaplain service

balloon badge

This badge and others like it have been rattling my cage for a long time. They usually are made of silver (though I have seen some brass ones) and they have the loop fasteners so in my view that...

Using a bit of deductive reasoning

If your Dad was born in 1912 and here appears to be maybe 20-25 years old.... so the date is early to mid 1920's
He is wearing an RAF Cap badge and the early RAF shoulder eagles of an enlisted man....

Brownie Wings

I just love how these "Italian Wings" keep showing up :) . I have seen plenty of them in some respectable collections in the "mystery" category and seeing the look on the faces of the respected...

Unusual RAF brevet badge

There used to be an Association for RAF Observers and Air Gunners after WW2. I THINK it was initially set up as an Air Gunners Association but changed its name to Observers and Air Gunners. As the...

Status of army wing

ostensibly a wing of the Glider Pilot Regiment, but not genuine.....the thread is far too thin for the era. These were around a lot in the mid 1980's with the "tag" on them. I am trying to remember...

opinions opinions opinions

Steve, Chris here..... these wings came from me (and are now back in my possession). They are very similar to the Hand & Lock pattern but having both in hand I can see (as could anyone else with...
