Firstly, I now know that L did nor produice / mark any (8th Irish Bn Kings) badge from 1939 because the National Archives do not have them...

Interesting. I am (dubiously) looking at a 1939 pattern badge purportedly made by Lambourne. Rob notes that they do not appear from 1932, though I don't think the quality of 1st WW Lambourne badges...

a 1st WW type of pattern 6342A/1896 (ie worn c. 1915-26) with both
LAMBOURNE’S / BIRMINGHAM
and
LAMBOURNE & Co / BIRMINGHAM
Both have two distinctive features...
