Assuming the irish had a similar chronology of changes in cap design, the peak looks pre Great War imo and as you said chinstrap also looks early though I have seen that type on early 1920's caps.

perhaps showing all the cap would confirm it was wrong from the other features. I have only ever seen that form of ink stamping on fake TR caps, but I assume the makers of such are moving...
