Thomas,

I cannot fault your logic about No1 Dress badges, and not for one minute do I think the RMP would deviate from Regulations. However, if they are blazer badges they must have very small...

ORANGE wings

Please can anyone help identify these wings?

They are stamped from brass or gilding metal, and the vertical lettering down the centre reads 'ORANGE', and was once enamelled green. The brooch...

Devonshire Regt helmet plate

I make the presumption that this is a fake helmet plate but any info would be welcome. It appears to have had original fittings removed and replaced with three screw posts.

It will be looking for...

Military police cloth badges

Thanks for replies. I did not think that the larger badges were big enough to be blazer badges, and my knowledge of RMP insignia is so limited that I wasn't aware there was a cloth No1 badge.

I...

I contacted the vendor via eBay, and added a link to this page. This is his reply:

"The badges Iíve been listing have not come from a source of modern reproduction."

Printed

I agree that they are very doubtful. Whilst someone went to a lot of effort to get the cloth weave, size, and letter font correct, the material looks too soft, and the ragged edges are not consistent...

Military Police cloth badges

Attached are scans of various CMP and RMP cloth items I have. I would like to know more about the use of the square black/red 'MP' flashes, and the two larger bullion badges. The latter shown next to...

Wilf,

The question to ask the IWM is when, and how this badge came into their collection. I could have donated a restrike last week and they would still have it in their vaults. We have seen...

Yes, agreed about the fault line. The thought that flitted through my mind was that the two turret was pre-1902, and the die then changed to add a third turret in much the same way as was done for...
