Yes, it definitely was. I have copies of photos of junior officers wearing that badge, but do not have permission to show them here. The 2 pics I have are a Lt & 2nd Lt.

I think perhaps that is just a maker's variation as I have an early hallmarked example, 1898 i think, which has the 3 diamond-cut tips to the star, not 5.

Thoughts on this??? To me it looks like a Frankenstein cast copy of an O/Rs badge which has had blades added. I wouldn't touch it personally!...
