The Cyrillic "B" would transliterate as the Roman "V" and Cyrillic has no "I" character, so I don't think that theory fits too well.

We always used the bugle and the pipes. Every day there was a Duty Piper and a Duty Drummer. The drummer would sound off first with the appropriate call followed by the piper.

I won't comment on the era - but there is a mismatch between the cap badge and the Glengarry. The cap badge is A and SH, but the Glengarry isn't.

Sorry to appear pedantic, but he isn't a senior NCO. He is a Warrant Officer Class 2 in a Q appointment of some sort - RQMS, ORQMS something like that.
