Birmingham Mint?

Hi All
Is this badge a Birmingham Mint badge?
Thanks. Cheers,
Alex

I don't think I've seen a Birmingham Mint Royal Artillery badge. There's not one in the big 52 badge set they produced, but there does appear to be one in the much rarer Guards set. It's safe to assume that it will be an officers quality badge in gilt but with a chunky slider on the back.

Hi Ian
Yes, I saw that but most of the BM badges had queen's crown and this is a KC, makes it a bit odd...
Possibly not BM

Alex

Alex,
I doubt it is Birmingham Mint as nearly all their production was QC as you have observed.
Try a PM to Marc (54Bty) as the RA expert. Or repost with Royal Artillery in the title.

I didn't think Birmingham Mint badge's were marker marked.

Or is it doing well because its the only Birmingham Mint badge that is maker marked.

It may look bright and shiny, however it is not anodised and someone is going to have an unpleasant surprise when this one lands on their door mat.

It has to be the most I have seen a Birmingham Mint badge sell for.

Oh dear - yes a huge and expensive shock.

Anodised brass perhaps in the strictest sense it may be, but anodised ALLUMINIUM it most definitely isn't. The AA example of this badge of course is mainly only seen made by Smith & Wright Ltd.

The listing doesn't actually say staybright/staybrite or aluminium anywhere I guess, but nonetheless, it does make you wince doesn't it?
