Bulletin. Military History Society

Greetings all.

Does anyone have access to this volume of the Bulletin
Volume 28, Issue 109 - Volume 32, Issue 128 [1977 or 1978] ?

I realise that reference needs unpacking but its the best I have.

I am interested in this article:

A RARE BELT PLATE OF THE 58th (RUTLANDSHIRE) REGIMENT
By DIXON PICKUP

Any assistance much appreciated.

Neither my copy of VOL XXVIII No. 109 August 1977 of the Bulletin of the Military Historical Society nor my copy of Vol XXXII No. 128 May 1982 contain said article.
No. 109 does feature an article on waist-belt plates by Lelia B. Ryan and the article A 'Second Regency' shako plate by K.D. Pickup but neither mentions the 58th.

The index has been digitised and is online here:

Hello,
it's in N° 120 (May 1980). I shall send copy tomorrow. Regards

I do apologise for the confusion. All I had was a partial result from a g**gle search.

Much obliged, Thomas. That's most helpful.

PS Astonished that I should get a positive result so quickly!

Jean Marie, thank you for those files. It is very helpful to see the description of the shoulder belt plate dating from 1815-20.

At the risk of seeming ungrateful and, rashly, I didn't anticipate any possible confusion, but it turns out the article I am after is a separate piece by Dixon Pickup relating to the 58th entitled:

A RARE BELT PLATE OF THE 58th (RUTLANDSHIRE) REGIMENT

Fragments ('snippets') accessible online read :
"The most important feature of the plate is the display of the Castle & Key from the Arms of Gibraltar; it is not too sweeping a statement to say that this is most probably the earliest appearance, albeit unofficial, of these emblems on a British military badge."

Would I be pushing my luck to ask if you have access to this article- ? pp.x-xiv as well?

With thanks,

JF

Hello, in fact, you are a lucky man :). There is no thing interesting in N° 109 or 128. The good one is N° 112 May 1978.
I am going to scan the file and to send it to you. Regards
Jean-Marie

My guess is that the reference is to a bound volume containing numbers 109 to 128, containing the elusive number 112.

I am indeed lucky
