I have 2 badges

can anyone advise what period they would be from

Hi Wayne
The Natal Scottish was 1940 - 1945 and was a training regiment as a feeder to the active units. The first one you've shown is odd, never seen that one before. The badges were quite rough, like the second picture. Usually made from some sort of zinc/lead alloy I think, though also copper plate. I suspect the first badge is a made-up one, not original. Any chance of a photo of the back?
Cheers,
Alex

The first appears to have been made from a set of dies.

I have also never seen one like the first badge. Would love to find out if this must go on my wants list, or not. Any information about where it came from will be helpful.egards Andrew

I very much doubt a "must" go, if it is, as it appears, I would suggest that it can only be completely spurious.

reverse of one badge attached.

can't deem to get the other uploaded - however it is a totally flat backed die cast

these come out of the clearance auction of a local Returned Services Association club in NZ.

they could have been WW2 soldiier souveniers or later collected?

they are both very heavy cast badges

also surplus to my needs and a fair offer could liberate them

Hi Wayne
The one you've shown is definitely a good one, nothing wrong with that. I am pretty sure the other one is a fantasy/post-war made up piece, maybe made as a souvenier.
Cheers,
Alex
