Australian Camel Corps

I bought this badge this morning and have taken pics before cleaning and after, I am very suspicious of this badge as it being an original and did not pay a fortune for it.
I have never seen one of these before which is why I bought it, I would welcome thoughts as to this badge being original or not. Many thanks Rob |
Hi Rob
I will leave it to the experts on originality (it would be a super grab if it is) But I can add from Cossum's book it's listed as a cast unofficial WW1 collar badge, (RS39) circa 32mm high. Cheers, Tim |
G'day Rob
Firstly thanks for sharing as these are a rare item whether they are good or not. Personally I don't like the shape and proportions of the badge as compared with a normal rising sun. I know that they were made in the field so proportions may not be important. I will state here that I am NO expert on these badges. I know that they have been discussed previously on the forum and there was talk of them being a 2 piece badge, ie the camel being made separately. However I don't have one to compare it with. May be do a search for previous threads on Camel Corps or scroll back down these threads and see how you go. Good luck Phil. |

Phil, thanks for the reply, yes, I'm afraid this has to be consigned to the spare lugs/loops box, it's complete rubbish, the more I look, the cr*p it looks, the guy I bought it from had some superb WW1 German items for sale.

I was literally seconds away from posting this one under the title of "is this as fake as I think it is"?
I'm pretty sure it has come from the same die, and I have two of them. One with three lugs and one with two. For the record they are both 45mm high by 60mm across |
hi rob
yuck sorry bc |
Hahahaha yeah, I was under no illusions!
