Canadian SAS

At the last MCCoC meeting a fellow brought in his grandfathers Canadian reunion SAS badges, the Canadian SAS was a short lived unit from 1948-1949.

The badges were given out at a reunion I believe in the 1970's, the unit never had a DND authorized cap badge or shoulder flash. They wore their parent regt on a maroon beret much like the CSOR.

The badges belonged to CWO Earl Scott, (RCR, SAS, CAR, RCOC).

Thanks to Kyle Scott (2 CER) for sharing

Yes, these SAS badges have been the bane of collectors. They were an SAS association item, made up for the Cdn assoc. Unfortunately, they have been represented as issued badges.
Just a note, the CSOR now has a cap badge for Operators.

When these were being marketed, I don't recall that there was any connection with an association. They were simply being sold in a newspaper type catalogue out of Calgary. I think it was "Things Military".

I can't recall exactly, but it was a trusted dealer that had found this. It may have been a member of the association decided they needed them and had them made up, but they were not an authorized association badge.

Just curious Mike, did Kyle buy that frame from Marway?

Tanker Mike 13-12-17 03:26 PM

He said he had them framed.
