Does anyone have an example they would share of the correct cap badge which would have been worn by a RNVR officer who was commissioned in in 1916 and was in command of Motor Launch?

IF it was an RN ship he would have worn a standard RN officer's cap badge. If he was a member of the RN Motor Boat Reserve ha may have had one of their cap badges but more likely to have been a standard RN badge.

RNVR executive branch officers wore the attached cap badge up to the end of WW1. Apologies for the quality of my scan.

Not Executive Branch so an appropriate cap badge to go with his war and victory medals shouldn't be quite as difficult to source as it might have been.

He did apply for seaplane training and although I have not seen them yet his papers apparently state RNAS service in 1917 but he was invalided out (early 1918) and did not see active service in the air. My guess would be that he would not have worn RNAS insignia. If he did then that is going to be an expensive cap badge purchase!

In 1915 the different badges for executive and non-executive branches were discontinued and all branches wore the gold & silver badges. The all gold badges for non-executive and different badges for engineers were officially done away with though no doubt officers who had them would have continued to wear them.

By the way, if he was in command of a launch he would have been executive branch anyway.
