SAAF 1950s

IMO some of the nicest SAAF badges and uniforms appeared during the 1950s. Much smarter than the plac-a-tac they wear now.

Interesting, the top one looks like a QC badge. I have the blacked backed badges (junior officers) in KC & QC but it's the first time I've seen that with a QC! Very nice and unusual :)
My KC version below. Cheers, Alex |
Hi Gents,
Another area I know very little about but must agree, some lovely looking badges there. Thanks for sharing and highlighting these. Cheerio, Roy |

Photo from 1955 edition of Commando magazine showing the badges been worn. I like the uniforms and insignia of the UDF period post war and pre Republic.

Interesting ribbon arrangement too!
Here are a couple more: A full length of Lt Joubert http://saafmuseum.org.za/korean-war-60th-anniversary/ And a close up of Maj Johnson (half way down the page) http://saafww2pilots.yolasite.com/eric-johnson.php |
