For what pattern of dress would that have been a collar badge for?

Cheers,

With the dark backing, it is likely these were wore on the blue patrols. The full dress collars were metal iirc.

Metal collar badges were for senior NCOs.

Embroidered badges were worn in full dress by The Canadian Guards, white thread for Jr Ranks, wire embroidered for Snr NCOs and officers. Metal collar badges on patrol dress, and no collar badges for Jr Ranks in SD.

No collar badges for any rank wearing TW's or for officer's in SD.

How sure are you that the badge in the OP is actually a full dress cloth collar badge for The Canadian Guards? It seems like the cloth is strangely cut to fit on the collar. I don't mean to doubt you (but I guess I am) but the badge doesn't look like it would fit.

Cheers,
Dan.

Pretty sure, they match the drawing in the catalogue and others in my collection. They were trimmed to fit the individual tunics very closely to the actual insignia.

Thanks for that. Much appreciated.
